View on mixing wine with water?

What is your viewing on mixing wine with water? Is it seen as unsophisticated?

Why would you do that to good wine?

What? No! I think it's illegal.

If it makes it taste better for you go for it! As long as you're not serving it to others, lemonade tastes better tho

Just plain water and wine? I just don't think it's that nice. But a tinto de verano is lovely when it's summer.

I'd say no, but I've been known to put ice in mine even red cos I don't like it unless it's cold.

But it was mentioned in Jane Austin books - mixing the wine with water was a ritual before dinner that Mrs Bertram worried about when her husband went away. Why that stuck in my brain I don't know

Quite normal in Germany. A Weißweinschorle is good on a hot day.

Ok if it's fizzy water for sangria. Otherwise a no no from me. I love my wine too much to water the taste down!

I mix wine with lemonade

White wine + fizzy water = spritzer
Other wine + other water = not something I've come across.

Sensible way to avoid a hangover! I don't see it as unsophisticated, but everyone has a different opinion on what is sophisticated/tacky/chavvy/posh etc... does it really matter what others think if your not harming anyone?

Spritzer? Standard dtink our household - super refreshing on a hot day and a great way to dilute liquid calories.

And the French friends I know water the table wine they give their children.

I do this now - didn't used to, but I was getting heartburn when I drank wine - I found if I added sparkling water I didn't.
