Hello, I would really like to make an excellent, authentic bolognese sauce, you know, the one that takes about 3hrs to cook!
Would be very grateful if someone could divulge their family recipe.
Many thanks
Wellsie

Hi Wellsie..

I know I am not an italian mum but seeing as no one else has replied to your message I thought I would send you a link to the best recipe I have found. It is really yummy even if it is d.s!

Here it is: recipe

Let me know what you think!

wellsie my bolognase sauce is one of the biggest cheats (batch cook it) three packs of mince large one small jar of ragu stir in sauce five of six tins of tomatoes depends how thick you like the sauce
fry and drain the mince
put in the largest sauce pan i use a large stock pot and split it between two pots add the ragu sauce and tomatoes stir like mad and leave to simmer with the lid on for a hour stir occasionaly i tell you its lovely

Just making it like that right now , will give you my verdict later in about 4 hrs !!!Its similar to my mums recipe , but I dont do it for 4hrs normally only an hour. Im not Italian BTW!!!!!! we just have a traditional bolognese recipe in the family!!

Its still cooking and Dh is dying to stir it , but I have said NO WAY !!Its looking all mahogany like and bubbling away. DD should like it too ,as Ive put no salt in it until weve done her freezer amount.

It was actually quite yummy , except it had to much of winey taste and id add some sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Very thick and dark though, quite amazing texture.

Thanks Melsy, will give it a go but I think I leave out the chicken livers - can't be dealing with that - yuk!
