vegetarian hot dogs?

PoppyPopcorn · 10/08/2017 13:10

DD is having an American themed party soon, hot dogs, burgers, mac and cheese etc. Couple of her friends don't eat meat and I have no idea where to look for hot dog style sausages which are meat-free. Any ideas?

(I know all supermarkets do standard veggie sausages but that's not what I'm after, it's the thin frankfurter type which you can stick in finger rolls and eat with ketchup).

Quorn ones in Sainsburys.

Sainsburys own brand are nice. Try holland and Barratt too

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Taifun-Organic-Tofu-Frankfurter/10514011 these are really yummy. They are quite expensive but I always cut them in half. Sainburys and Quorn also make them and are good from what I remember (am now Vegan so can't eat them anymore).

Ocado don't deliver here I don't think.... haven't been in Sainsbury's for years either so looks like i'll be making a special trip!

thank you :-)

Best ones are the ones newlabelwriter linked, we have tried them all over the years

FindTheCupForMax · 10/08/2017 13:18

Just seen your reply, can get them in waitrose or holland and Barratts

Whoverville · 10/08/2017 13:20

Tesco sell their own version in the frozen vegetarian section. I find them nicer than the quorn ones which have got a strange plasticky coating on them.

Notanothernamechangeaddict · 10/08/2017 13:20

Tesco do lovely realistic vegetarian frankfurters in the frozen section

PoppyPopcorn · 10/08/2017 13:23

Waitrose appear to stock the Taifun ones. Will only need one pack. Judging by past experience I'll get the veggie ones and the non meat eaters will shun them in favour of the pizza and mac and cheese anyway....

The Quorn brand do meat free frankfurters/hot dog sausages.

They are available in my local small Tesco and Sainsbury's:

www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/274571382?sc_cmp=ppcGHS%20-%20Grocery%20-%20NewPX%20%7C%20Shopping%20GSC%20%7C%20Top%20OffersPRODUCT%20GROUP274571382&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8fm2wdPM1QIVR7XtCh0GnAQ9EAQYASABEgLqW_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Holland and Barrett also do frozen hot dog-style sausages (that brand is Fry's, I think, but not completely sure)

I hope your DD has a lovely party!

Elllicam · 10/08/2017 13:24

Ikea do veggie hotdogs too.

DahlTheGalah · 10/08/2017 13:25

Sorry i took an age typing and everyone has given extensive suggestions already!

Shadow01 · 10/08/2017 13:31

Another vote for Sainsbury's own meat free hotdog sausages. I'm not veggie but always have a pack of these in the freezer

MrsRedFly · 10/08/2017 15:46

Another vote for the frozen ones from Tesco & get finger rolls instead of the hotdog rolls (for better hotdog to roll ratio!)

BellaVida · 10/08/2017 15:50

Tesco frozen hot dog sausages are the best I have ever come across.
