Weird man cake for DC birthday

I love how my DC likes odd stuff but for their 6 th birthday they've asked for a Balthazar Bratt cake from Despicable me 3. I have no idea where to even start, there are no rice paper things with his image or even cake toppers or anything vaguely linked to this character and I just can't afford to pay a professional cake maker. Any tips anyone?

You can get pictures printed onto cakes in Asda - never had it done but I know they do it.

Asda print any picture on to a cake

There are DM3 toys inside Kinder eggs at the moment, could that work as a topper?

What about buying some small plastic Despicable Me figures, including the weird man (!) and sticking them on top of a cake? They can keep the toys afterwards..
I did similar when my son asked for a Star Wars cake and all his friends said it was "awesome". Which is praise indeed from 9 year-olds. Grin

Great minds, Novella..

I meant Nigella sorry.

I tried to do a Doctor Who cake in Asda once, and got told that I couldn't because of photo copyright. Personal photos only, maybe that's just the rule at my local Asda though.

eBay sellers will print images onto icing

CoxsOrangePippin · 08/08/2017 21:09

Just search 'photo icing'

Thanks all, I've looked into the kinder toy thing, turns out this character is pretty rare and hard to come. I guess they didn't think an 80's relic with a 'Tash and mullet would be a hit with kids, little did they know! I'll google rice paper printing and see if anyone does it thank you.
