Frozen fish

After abit of advice! I've just made a fish pie using frozen fish pieces. I put the frozen fish in a oven proof dish, poured over the warm white sauce and mixed it together, topped with mash and popped it in the oven. Just worried - should I had defrosted the fish?? I assumed it would be fine! Xx

I would have defrosted it first tbh

I think it'll be fine. Frozen fish is normally nicer good straight out the freezer anyway, it can go a bit mushy otherwise. Just make sure it's piping hot all the way through is all!

Thanks guys- would hate to throw the whole thing away! I google it and it said just that...it's often better cooking in oven straight from frozen! Soon find out X

just make sure it gets hot enough! with it being frozen it will take longer to heat (obviously) and will make the rest of the pie colder as well. best way to do it though :)

My only worry of using it frozen is that it would make the pie watery or break the sauce... but you can cook fish from frozen from a health perspective, no issue

I always use frozen fish straight from frozen - just needs a little bit longer to cook

I use frozen fish straight from the freezer too and never had a problem 😊

It'll prob be watery, but fine. Make sure fish is cooked all the way through, but fish cooks quickly anyway, even from frozen.

Thanks all! We all ate it and are still alive with no sickness! Although my son thought it was disgusting - that's down to my cooking not the fish x
