What veggie thing can I stick on a skewer and barbecue that doesn't fall apart?

Apart from veg of course Grin

I'm thinking of some sort of fake chicken/soya stuff I can marinade etc

The quorn chicken would just fall apart and it's so soft

Halloumi is good on BBQ.

Clembarrass · 13/06/2017 11:52

Agree, halloumi is excellent.

Smoked/marinated tofu is firmer and so might work too.

Halloumi with peppers on skewers is lovely on a barbecue. If you're worried about it collapsing you can wrap in foil until just before it's done so it's still barbecue-y

Another vote for halloumi Grin you can marinade it too. Or you could probably use paneer.

Great ideas thanks. Does anyone have any ideas about a fake meat that will hold its weight on a skewer?

The quorn cocktail sausages go well on skewers, feta also works.

Haloumi!!! Alternate cubes of it with chunks of courgette, peppers, onion, whole button mushrooms and some cherry tomatoes. It's delicious,

Or I'd be happy with just a load of skewered mushrooms with something spicy to dip them in.

Blondie1984 · 14/06/2017 21:32

You could chopping Quorn or Linda McCartney sausages into chunks and threading them on...

IrritatedUser1960 · 14/06/2017 21:33

Halloumi is fabulous or hard tofu with some mushrooms and veg.

nessus · 14/06/2017 21:37

Tempeh should hold up and marinates well

happinessbythekilowatt · 15/06/2017 16:04

Quorn peppered steaks or Cauldron Cumberland sausages should be quite good on the BBQ as well. And yes, definitely halloumi. Smile

Tofu is always good, i cover it in cornflower and Cajun spices then fry it in sunflower oil turning till all sides are gold then BBQ it. It's heavenly.

The Quorn fillets work on a skewer.
I chop each fillet into 4-6 pieces and make souvlaki.
