Tahini based crisis!

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 12/06/2017 17:35

I'm out of tahini for hummus, but I've a whole bag of sesame seeds. Will I get away with using them instead? 1:1 ratio or something else?

TIA!

You can make your own tahini quite easily from sesame seeds. I haven't tried this yet, but search on youtube, there are several videos showing how.

Here is a link to a tahini recipe that I have bookmarked to try.

I would grind the sesame seeds with a little oil in a food processor or liquidiser, then use in your hummus, should work.

You could just make the houmous without tahini? It wouldn't be that noticeable.

Have you got any peanut butter? I use a decent tablespoon of that instead of tahini and it's amazing.
