I keep reading how good tinned Salmon is for us - as it is wild there is no pollutants etc and loads of omega whatsits and always on BOGOF at local Tescos ... so now I own about 12 cans and except for fishcakes and sandwiches, am running out of ideas of what to do with it...

anybody any inspirational ideas?

thanks

Hmm, we enjoy a sort of fish pie made with tinned salmon, a good white sauce with shallot and parsley, spinach, topped with a mix of mashed ordinary and sweet potato. Served with sweetcorn it goes down well in our house.
MancMum, I had NO IDEA tinned salmon was wild. Is that so? I'll be matching you in the stockpiling stakes then...

Agree with Marina, had always assumed tinned salmon was farmed. Will check.

Very good mixed in with scrambled eggs, also mixed with a few veggies and rice and baked for 20 mins with a cheesy topping.

Hi MancMum - I loved tinned salmon in pasta with lots of veggies and some mayonnaise. Or it's nice with mayo on a jacket potato - makes a change from tuna!

If you read the tins or look at this website

www.globeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20040124/SALMON24/TPEntertainment/Style

(only one I could find quickly at work but there are loads of others)

it says that tinned is wild - really surprised me when I read it, hence stockpile!

Thanks for these ideas... anything to get some fish into the kids...

Oh yes, definitely wild. But aren't you supposed to restrict your intake or suchlike?

Must try that fish pie, Marina.

I think it's tuna you're supposed to restrict?

my mum is a big tinned salmon fan and the most youthful 74 year old you could meet. she'd give joanie a run for her money that's for sure

Make a fish pie with -

One tin salmon
One tin tuna
One onion (diced and fried a bit)
A couple of hard boiled eggs, chopped up
Cover all of above with cheesy white sauce
Top with mashed potato.

This makes substantial meal for 2 adults & 2 kids when served with a few veggies. (That's vegetables, not vegetarians.)
