Hi all,
My lamb steaks are marinading at the moment and the cook book says to grill them. However, my grill doesn't work so well. Any suggestions please!!! Could I roast them in the oven. If so, what temp and for how long?
I do like wrapping my chicken breasts and fish in foil and baking them like that - can i do that with lamb? Or is this too fatty because it will sit in the fat?
I didn't think lamb steaks could confuse me so much

I would put them on the foil but not cover them - bake them for 25 mins ish and they should be lovely - don't bother turning them.

I cook them on a grill pan. Not for very long, though, they really just need the outside cooked, imo. DH likes them well done, and I just cook them longer, at a lower temperature.

I would normally grill them but I'm sure you can fry them if you want

What if you don't have a grill pan? would a normal pan work? Blimey, who would have thought i could have so many ques?

You could fry them in a normal pan, yeah. I do think frying is better if you want them rare - you put the pan up to a high temperature, and then just cook until outside is browned.

thanks, i'm off to try!!

ridged frying pan is 'griddle pan' in the UK, 'grill pan' is the thing that you grill your bacon on

NotQuiteCockney · 17/03/2007 19:51

Eh? A griddle is a giant frying pan, normally built in to the hob, with a sort of drainage system for fat.
