I've never done so in the past but have just been reading through Delia's cookbook and she says to add some. Have I been missing out? Does it make a big difference? What do you lot do with your shepherd's pie?

I never have. DH is also always on at me to add baked beans to it! Yuk

Enid · 16/03/2007 12:53

I put a tablespoon of tomato ketchup and a scant tblsspopn of soy

I add tomato puree, worchester (sp) sauce, and lots of cumin ( sounds a little odd but everyone I serve it to say that it really adds to the flavour).

Ooooo, baked beans are lovely in it (and so good for you too!). I usually add tomato puree but I have absolutely no idea why!

ComeOVeneer · 16/03/2007 12:54

Oh and a teaspoon of sugar.

i have done occasionally. depends what veg i've got to go with it. usually just stick to gravy and a bit of worcester sauce.

its nice, with tomato puree and cheese on top of the potatoes

pollyanna · 16/03/2007 12:55

I add tomato ketchup too.

Enid, my DS has tomato ketchup with it anyway, only way he will eat it!

may have to try with tomato puree then, but does it give it a tomatoey taste? Coz I quite like it with gravy...

My dh eats it with mayonaise

CheesyFeet · 16/03/2007 12:58

Nope, no tomato puree here.

But Worcester Sauce - just a bit - is yum

CheesyFeet · 16/03/2007 12:58

Mayonnaise!

LazyLine · 16/03/2007 12:59

I add lots of WSauce.

Would not add tomato puree to SPie, but yes in lasagna and bolognese.
