Does the kind or shape of pasta really matter for pasta salad? 🤔

So I'm thinking of making a pasta salad for an office potluck. I usually use bow-tie pasta or conchiglie and have on occasion used macaroni. But I haven't really ventured outside of those options and was wondering what other pasta shapes I could use? And does it really matter about the shape? 🤔

Yes shape matters you need something small enough for one bite (not spaghetti!) that gets a good coating of dressing.

Twists work quite well.

Oh and I have also used spirali and orecchiette for my pasta salads.

I second orechiette, or trofie?
Noting like penne or conchiglie as the sauce wont get on all the nooks n crannies in a salad.

I generally use fusilli for pasta salad, definitely one bite size though, nothing long or too small.

Depends on the sauce, each shape is designed to accompany a different sauce.
