Would like to make him a soup that He WILL eat.
He likes most veg but hasnt really been a big soup eater in the past. So something to tickle the taste buds of a five year old.

Any tried and tested recipes out there?

blast half an onion, a SCRAP of garlic, a stick of celery and a carrot in the magimix until shredded

cook gently in olive oil and butter until very soft but not in the slightest bit brown (this takes much longer than you think about 20 minutes)

add cooked red lentils, some chicken stock (a cube is fine) and some shredded chicken if you have it. You can blend it if they like it smoother.

dd1l oves this when ill

she also loves Heinz Cream of Tomato when poorly too

I gently fry a chopped onion until transparent, then add any combination of chopped carrot, potato, squash, sweet potato, parsnip, leeks etc. But the important thing is to add a chopped apple as this makes it sweeter and extra toddler-friendly. Then add boiling water to cover the veg, put in a bit of tomato puree (more sweetness) plus some stock powder or half a stock cube, stir well, and simmer till all veg are really soft (an hour ideally). Whizz with handblender and serve with torn-up bits of bread scattered on top - which my DS likes to mush into the soup till they're soggy , then eat with a spoon.
