Chia seeds - what to do with them??

I've bought a bag of chia seeds which were on offer. Can you give me your ideas/recipes to make sure these seeds don't stay in the bag which sometimes happens when I get carried away by a bargain. Thanks.

I'm not the biggest fan of them but like you I have a load to use up - so I tend to add them to porridge or smoothies - I've tried making chia pudding but definitely wasn't for me

If you want to be really hipster you could make Acai bowls

I love making breakfast with them. Soaked in almond or coconut milk with oats, nuts and fruit.

Lots of recipes for breakfast bowls if you google.

If you need to up the protein content of a salad you can sprinkle them on.

blend them with a banana, an egg and a few spoons of oats before frying them in the pan in some coconut oil. Healthy pancakes!

Sprinkle them onto cereal, soup, add to smoothies. If you soak them overnight they turn into something resembling frog spawn, I'll never do that again.

I sprinkled in porridge. They clump & go sticky nasty if you don't stir them in well.

CMOTDibbler · 03/05/2017 22:04

They are OK in porridge. Don't be fooled by Pintrest into making chia pudding or putting them in smoothies

daimbar · 03/05/2017 22:07

Put them in smoothies but add them last otherwise they swell up and get stuck to the blender.

Banana, berries, coconut water and chai seeds is quite nice.

Give them to the birds. Assuming they are safe and the birds are not too fussy.

Oh dear, I have a bag of these languishing in my cupboard.
They just don't seem very appealing.

AmericanPastoral · 03/05/2017 22:20

Thanks everyone.

SealSong - bring the bag out of the cupboard! We can enter the chia seed world together. I think I'm going to start with a porridge recipe. Deliciously Ella has a few recipes which look interesting.

I am not a chia seed fan either. But I loved these and so did DH:
