I just made chilli, do I need to put it in the fridge?

Just made a chilli con carne for dinner tonight, have left covered on hob...
Should I put it in the fridge or will it be ok left out?

If your kitchen is anything but cold, put it in the fridge.

Probably be fine if you left it out but I would always put it in the fridge just to be safe

Don't put it in the fridge until it's fully cool though.

Ok so do I need to take it out of saucepan to put it in the fridge?

Don't mean to sound dense but I don't normally cook in advance!

No I just keep it in the saucepan covered with foil and put in fridge. Or spoon it into a bowl and cover with foil

Leave the lid on the pan and leave it on the hob. It will take a while to cool so you can put it in the fridge. The germs are not going to burrow through or under the pan lid and you are going to reheat it thoroughly anyway (aren't you?).

@chemenger put it in a bowl now waiting for it to cool. And yes going to reheat and add more chilli/salt later! If I cover the bowl and leave out will that be ok?!
