Freezing cake

I am ridiculously unprepared for DS's naming day next week and everyone we've invited has accepted so we've got 100 guests coming Shock

I am thinking about making several cakes over this week and freezing them (Uniced). If I get them out on Saturday morning and ice them whilst they're frozen will they thaw out by 3ish?

I tend to freeze cake in slices so it defrosts in about 2 hours. A whole cake? It might be best to let it thaw overnight.

I'd defrost them the day before and ice them the night before. Less to do on the day!

Thanks both. I think I'll defrost and ice them the day before
