Just that really.

Hosting a dinner party at the weekend and I need easy and yummy starters ideas please.

Can't be fish - because of fussy guests - or soup because the mains is 'wet'.

Parma ham and melon, watermelon and feta, pate?

What is this wet main you're having?

queenofawkward · 21/04/2017 00:10

Stilton, pear, walnut and rocket salad

Blondie1984 · 21/04/2017 00:20

Pate with with really good bread like sourdough

What are you serving for the main and dessert? Without knowing those it's hard to know what to suggest as obviously you want to make sure that it all fits together....

Stilton and Leek tarts with baby leaves

Salad leaves scattered with lardons and diced black pudding.
Mushroom Stroganoff.

Asparagus with lemon mayonnaise.
Avocado vinaigrette.
Individual baked Camemberts.

I made this recently - with a shop bought pastry case because pastry and I don't get along very well. Was easy and very nice www.womanandhome.com/recipes/541513/goats-cheese-tart

Bake a Camembert and have yummy crust bread to dip in it. And also have some other Nibbles on the table like olives.

Or how about a nice homemade soup with bread?

Something I like to do for a dinner party is buy some gnocchi and then make a homemade tomato sauce with buffalo mozzarella and some fresh basil. I then just serve a small portion of that for a starter

Halved hardboiled eggs on top of a heap of lightly cooked green beans and finely diced skinned tomato dressed in a slightly mustardy vinaigrette. Top with a crisscross of anchovy. My go-to dinner party first course.

would a meze style starter work? Grilled halloumi, lamb meatballs, fresh pitta, olives and dips
