What to eat when pregg and avoiding dairy products?

Hello,
I get excema when I eat dairy products, adn so ususally just substitute soy versions of my usual milk and yogurts. However now I am pregnant, and so I went back to dairy to make sure I ate enough calcium. However the excema has come back too. Have you any ideas on what else I can eat to up my calcium intake to ensure the baby and I are getting a balanced enough diet? Is calcium enriched soy milk enough?

thanks!

Hi - have you tried goats milk? It is high in calcium and has more protein in that cows milk. There is something in cows milk that can trigger allergies/sensitivities in some people wheareas goats milk is easier to digest. You could also take a supplement - I took Pregnacare during both my pregnancies (I am a vegetarian so like you wanted to make sure I was eating right). Also, might be worth comparing the calcium content between soy milk, goats milk and cows milk to see what the difference is. I imagine the long life UHT versions will detail the calcium amounts.

Sardines have got lots of calcium in them - and whatever it is that's in oily fish that is good for you.

Thanks, I will try your suggestions. I already take a pregancy supliment, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something obvious (such as the sardines!) which I had forgotten. Thanks
