I like the kind you get if you have a jacket potato in Fat Jackets (or spud u like I think) - outrageously thick and creamy rather than watery. But nothing I've found in a supermarket is like that! Any thoughts please?

You need Longley Farm yoghurts I havebrillo
Totally thick and gorgeous, loads of fruit but not too sweet.

I can't find them here.
The finest range ones are good, but I'd like just a basic four pack sometimes without all the lovely, gorgeous, delicious fat sucked out.
Don't even get me started on low fat cheese, or mayonnaise, it makes me sad. Sad

Cottage cheese you can slice ? Shock
I must try this. I've wandered about the Polish section, looking at cheeses but never bought any. I do stock up on cherry-flavoured things however.

I don't get mixing it with soured cream though, climate. Is that how it usually gets served, or is it just for extra deliciousness?

All the supermarkets where I live sell it - but Longley Farm itself is quite nearby so it probably qualifies as local produce!

Hah this is hilarious. I just opened this thread and thought hmmmmm. I've just popped into my local polish shop on the way home and bought a block of what I'm pretty sure is exactly the same product that affection posted. I also bought some cured sausages, fresh tomato and enormous bag of pickles. I'm also pregnant!!!

Sure! Polish cottage cheese in a block is usually firm enough to hold together. So if you want the consistency of a classic mixed creamy cottage cheese you need to add a bit of moisture and soured cream is great for that. You can chop in chives and/or radish for the fully polish version. Mind you, I often don't bother mixing as I love it straight from the block, sliced either on bread or on its own.

crombanna - awesome! Enjoy - Polish food has quite a lot of sour flavour in it so it's so pregnancy friendly Wink

OMG I love cottage cheese and never knew about the polish kind.

Holy cow cottage cheese was lush. Made with cream.

BoBaraMoMara · 27/03/2017 20:22

Holy cow IS lush. You can get it at Waitrose or Ocado.

Grass fed cows happy on the cliffs or something but the curds are bigger and the milky bit isn't watery, its creamy.
