Cooking a whole chicken in a slow cooker?

Our oven is playing up so I'm reluctant to roast today's chicken in there. Can I slow cooker it? It's around 1.7kg. I'm thinking 4 hours on high as I've only just realised this. Does this sound right? Then maybe put into weird temp oven for 20 mins on hit to crisp up?
Advice gratefully received!

Yes 3/4 hours on high will do it. Make a sling out of foil, they easily fall apart, then you can lift it out whole. Pop a little water in the bottom to stop the pot possibly cracking. You can pop it in the oven to crisp if off if you like, but you don't need to. I often stick some jacket potatoes round the meat then crisp them up in the oven.
