Evening all.

I have been meal planning and budgeting my food since january and I have seen such a reduction in my weekly spend but now i'm thinking I could save even more if I used leftovers.

I have never really used leftovers and I have had a google but nothing inspires me we are a family of good eaters and we aren't fussy.

So mumsnet what are your favourite meals that you make with leftovers.

dementedma, a great way to use over ripe bananas is to slice them, freeze them, and then make "ice cream" by blending them (blender or food processor, be careful, pulse in the beginning, to avoid overheating the motor). It's a great treat, you could even have it for breakfast.

Depends on what the leftovers are!
Leftover chicken can be almost anything: curry, risotto, ginger chicken noodles, chicken pie (left over veg is also good in this), fajitas.
Chili can be an enchilada filling, taco filling or nacho topping. Bolognaise can turn into tomato-y cottage pie or chili with the addition of beans and spices.
Potato can go into fritters, potato cakes and soup.
Leftover risotto can be arancini.
Leftover burgers and sausages can be broken up into a bolognaise.
Bonus tip: leftover chip shop chips heat up nice and crispy in the oven - they seem to work better if they've been in the freezer first though and you reheat from frozen!
