I still haven't made mejardra - have been meaning to for absolutely ages. And barley and lentil soup with a spud sounds like perfect comfort food.

Can I join in?! Smile

Bit of an unusual week, but:
Tonight - Tuna empanada pie (BBC good food recipe - bit of a faff but worth it when you have time)
Tuesday - Spicy bean goulash in wraps with salad, cheese, guacamole etc, maybe wedges if I can be arsed
Wednesday - Mushroom risotto
Thursday - Out
Friday - Veggie 'meat'balls with pasta

Away for the weekend, but thinking either a corned beef hash or some veggie burgers lurking in the freezer for Monday's return. The reason it's so veggie heavy this week is just me trying to think what fresh stuff needs using up before we go away! Think next week will be a bit more of a meat feast Grin

Sunday: pulled pork, potato wedges and salad
M:leftover pulled pork wraps with salad
T:roast chicken, rice and veggies
W:leftover chicken wraps with salad
Th: shepherds pie from freezer with redcabbage and beetroot

Meat heavy week so I think some veggie lunches will be needed for a bit of balance!

Today - out for Sunday roast
Then, in no particular order:

baked potatoes with cauliflower cheese plus sausages (meaty or veggie depending on who's eating them)
egg curry with chapatis, salad and raita
veggie burritos (sweet potarto, blackbean and sweetcorn) with deconstructed guacamole
Quorn roast with roast potatoes and a load of vege - I didn't like Quorn roast until my mum told me to try defrosting it and frying slices of it, and now I'm a convert!
Beer battered halloumi with chips and homemade mushy peas - not tried the halloumi before and am really hoping it works.

Halloumi works really well as "fish and chips". My local(ish) veggie restaraunt has had it on the menu permanently for many years. They soak the Halloumi in buttermilk first which makes it very soft (and easy to replicate at home)

This:
Better Batter and Lemony Yemeni Relish 15.75
Soft buttermilk soaked halloumi dipped in chip shop batter, served with vodka-spiked preserved plum tomatoes, bright fresh pea mint hash with pickled quails egg, sea salad tartar and thick chips, finished with lemony Yemeni relish.

HandbagCrab Your menu sounds fine - all comfort food and family favourites! Just right for this time of year.

Liking the sound of 'Yemeni lemony' relish. :)

I've eaten halloumi and chips before but never cooked it, as I generally avoid deep frying. Soaking it in buttermilk is a good idea, but I might have to use a bit of natural yoghurt mixed with ordinary milk, as no buttermilk.
