Bought some really juicy, thick pork chops from the butcher this morning. What's the best way to cook them?

In a large pan with apples and sage leaves, using butter.

We often have pork chops.

Sometimes I just oven cook them in stock (stops them drying out) and have with homemade apple sauce and stuffing.

Or marinade in BBQ and cut into strips with stir fry veg

Dip in flour, beaten egg, then dry Paxo sage and onion stuffing..

Then bake for around 30 mins.

Delicious.

i have a really heavy griddle pan, so I get that really hot, get them in there, both sides and then into the oven to finish them off.

or sometimes I do carrots and potatoes par boiled, in chunks drain, let them sit in the steamy pan, shake like mad then tip them into a small roasting tin, oil, salt and fresh thyme leaves, squeeze of lemon, sit the chops on top and then into a hot oven. ...you do have shake this around a bit to get the veggies nice and roasty but it's lovely

Put them in a dish, in a single layer and season. Pour over a tin of chopped tomatoes and then add some chopped/sliced olives, gherkins and/or capers then cook in a pre-heated oven at around 200 deg.C for 35 -40 mins.

Ooh! I think we've found a winner! Thanks everyone.

You won't regret it! Grin

Just make sure you give the baking dish a good oiling before putting them in.

Nigel Slater pork chips and apple (BBC website) as a back up for next time! Enjoy the stuffing though that sounds lovely.

Chips = chops

Grill them and eat them with plain boiled vegetables.

Oh sorry, that's how my parents would cook them in the 80s!. Put me off pork chops for life!

MagnumAddict · 23/02/2017 19:40

Cabbage by any chance xmasbaby! I have similar memories....

MagnumAddict · 23/02/2017 19:41
