Anyone eaten at the Empress of India, Lauriston Rd E9?

Need somewhere to take the parents out for dinner on Friday night. Was planning to go to the newish Empress of India on Lauriston Road in Victoria Park but have just read a couple of mediocre online reviews and have been rather put off.

NQC or any other East End denizens - have you eaten there? What's it like?

Also, has anyone been to Bistrotheque in Bethnal Green, as that's another possibility?

It's nice. Pricey, but I thought the food was very good, and the service was good, too.

I know people who've been to Bistrotheque, I think it's standard French food, quite theatrical though, nice atmosphere.

(Are you dinosaur?)

If thai would work, there's a nice new thai right near me. It's upstairs from a minging pub, but the food is very good. Not as posh as the Empress, though.

Yes, it's me, Dino! I think we are going to play safe and go to the Fox Reformed on Church St.
