Trying to find a healthy ish option from our local chinese.
I had a chicken chop suey with boiled rice tonight but it was quite tasteless.
We only have take away about once a month but I would like it to be tasty and healthy!

Black bean, oyster...with ginger and spring onion

Basically stuff without batter or sugar.

lastqueenofscotland · 04/02/2017 21:52

Stir fried veg and rice?

helensburgh · 04/02/2017 21:53

I wouldn't worry. Once a month should be a treat
Life's too short. Enjoy

EssentialHummus · 04/02/2017 21:56

Stir-fries pak choi / stir-fried veg. A soup.

RJnomore1 · 04/02/2017 22:00

Chicken and pineapple

Or a chicken chow mein

Biggest problem is the salt but if you don't eat much usually it will balance out

PurpleDaisies · 04/02/2017 22:01

Take aways aren't supposed to be healthy. I'd just eat a smaller portion of something you actually enjoy.

If you aim to eat well mosy of the time a few treat meals won't be a problem.

ceeveebee · 04/02/2017 22:02

Any stir fry shouldn't be too bad, have Chinese veg instead of rice if lo carbing

RedBugMug · 04/02/2017 22:06

special fried rice?

BrowsOnFleek · 04/02/2017 22:24

A prawn cracker?

Seriously, if you're going to have a take away you may as well treat it as a cheat meal and enjoy it!

Anniehello · 05/02/2017 11:30

Rather oily.

finova · 05/02/2017 12:12

I have stir fried veg with cashews and boiled rice.
Foo yung sometimes.
Garlic brocolli side dish too.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/02/2017 12:16

Tofu and veg with boiled rice

Notjustuser1458393875 · 05/02/2017 12:17

The foo yung can't be too bad.

Count2three · 05/02/2017 12:21

I think your OP may be an oxymoron, unfortunately 😕

SpongebobRoundPants · 05/02/2017 14:30

Vegetables in black bean sauce or mushroom stir fry.

I just order one if these with no rice and because the portions are so big it fills me up!

Purplehonesty · 05/02/2017 19:06

Thanks everyone!
It is an occasional treat but I feel really bloated after a curry/chips/chow mein so was wondering what's better for me and still tasty.

Oh I love the oyster sauce idea will try that next time.

Steamed stuff - dumplings, baked fish, less sweet sauces.
What I do is cook my own brown rice and a pile of Chinese green veg, or even just a £1 bag of stir fry veg from the supermarket, and then balance out the rest of the takeaway (or more often, balance out and extend the leftovers!)
