What was it like i am dying to try it.

DeviousDaffodil · 23/02/2007 16:50

Oh sorry you said it was yummy, Doh!
Can you taste the Guinnes in it?

skill · 23/02/2007 16:58

Oh

My

GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two of my favourite things in one jar!!

Where did you get it? What was it like?

zephyrcat · 23/02/2007 17:00

Doesn't really taste too guinness-y. It's much lighter than normal marmite and the taste is a lot smoother.

Marmite Heaven!!

Going to Sainsbury's tomorrow. Will putit on my list.
Am savlivating just thinking about it.

zephyrcat · 23/02/2007 17:01

Honestly, it's really nice. Not as you'd imagine it to taste and not too far from marmite - try it!

Am off to Waitrose on the way home to give it a try!! How far will I get on the DLR before I can't resist sticking my finger in and sucking it off and getting strange looks from other passengers???

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:02

Right. Have to at least try it.
I love both the substances it contains.
The result might be phenomenal.

zephyrcat · 23/02/2007 17:03

Twinkie I got home super fast!! When you open the jar you can see the little bubbles in the top!!

I love that word - it is my fave word - except I have a slight speech impediment and can't say it properly!! Phenominal!!!

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:06

Sounded fine twinkie.

it was just your spelling

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:07

actually phenomenon is even harder to say

brightwell · 23/02/2007 17:12

Ooooh sounds interesting, shall have to look out for it.

TinyGang · 23/02/2007 17:15

I've not heard of this. I wonder why they came up with that combination? (Vodka margarine next?)

I'm a 'love marmite' type though so I'll have to try it

Twinkie1 · 23/02/2007 17:15

Thats how I say it - mixture of Essex and Sarf London - does nothing for your pronunciation.

Phenominal oooooohhhhh!!!!!

That's it am packing up and am off to get some - if any of you see a small lady sitting on the DLR licking lack treacly stuff of her finger it is me and I would be glad to share it with you.

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:16
Grin
Carmenere · 23/02/2007 17:19

OhOhOh I have to get some. I will get some for my Japanese house guest as he love Guinness and Japanese don't mind strange/strong flavours(natto anyone??) I'll bet he loves it!

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:23

I've not been to japan and never tried natto, but I've never heard a non-japanese person saying anything positive about it.

Like phlegm isn't it? And it's a breakfast thing?

Carmenere · 23/02/2007 17:34

Well I have to admit that I bought some recently and had to bin it as I chickened out and diddn't even try it before it rotted(even more) in my fridge.
I believe it is fermented soy bean paste or summat.

aDad · 23/02/2007 17:37

I like most things that are vegetarian but I draw the line I think.

Carmenere · 23/02/2007 17:38

Do you like Kimchi aDad? It is salty, spicy Korean pickled cabbage, very yummy indeed, but very powerful.
