Got a flyer through the door the other day, seems quite reasonable price...any one any experience? will i end up with 7 jeruasalem artichiokes, 4 beetroot, 1 wierdy, knobbly carrot and a potato? or a good selection of excellent quality veg that i can use, rather than look at , wonder, and then bin??

xx TIA

I have using the Organic Delivery Company for the last few months and they are great. Their produce is beautifully fresh and the range of groceries is extensive. Their website is easy to use, the staff are helpful and friendly and they deliver when they say they will. My experience with them has been really fanastic, I highly recommend them. www.organicdelivery.co.uk

Hi, have to admit did not read all the messages but here goes: I was quite disappointed with able and cole, had apples replaced with pears even though pears were already in the box, only a few potatoes, not even enough for one meal, cucumber always bitter and all the stuff started going overly ripe the next day. I resorted to going to our local fruit end veg shop now but am not sure what to do once I am back at work.

We decided to give Abel & cole a try - kept getting leaflets through. We were having RIverford - but there was almost too much stuff in their boxes! But we were really disappointed in A&C - tiny amounts and not great tasting......have cancelled and gone back to Riverford...and I'm in love with their nobbly, earth-covered stuff all over again

just to add my 2 cents worth - have used A&C for about 3 years and have just given them the boot after a long, protracted falling-out-love period. Their magoes never ripen, they just go from rock hard to off, the fruit always went bad within days (esp things like peaches and strawberries - covered with fur the day after delivery) and the selection was p*ss poor. Great website, great customer service, just not great fruit & veg. And I agree, they seem to have become stingier with their portions over the last 12 montsh or so. Am going to try Riverford, I think.

Lulu - jerusalem artichokes are great in a warm salad with bacon - I got the recipe off someones blog but I gather it's a Jamie Oliver recipe - I've pasted the text from the blog below:

This salad involved scrubbing the artichokes and boiling them until tender; then cooling, halving and setting them aside. Meanwhile I washed and sliced radicchio and little gem lettuce and placed in a bowl with chopped flat-leaf parsley. I sliced the bacon and fried it in a little olive oil, adding the arichokes and sliced red onion when the bacon was golden, and continuing until the artichokes were crispy. I then divided half that pan between our plates, before adding balsamic vinegar and olive oil to the pan, mixing, and tossing the pan's contents over the salad leaves in the bowl, before transferring it all to the plates
