What can I do to make it more palatable ?
It was in a Christmas hamper.
Do you just add butter.
It tastes quite like barm brack to me.

I preferreded it lightly toasted.

I have seen bread and butter pudding recipes using it but I didn't have any leftovers!

The most incredible bread and butter pudding, it is the way forward ( I have some Italian relations so always end up with a few).

I think I did this one last year:

I would second using it in bread and butter pudding. I make mine with panettone and leave out the butter on the bread (oily enough anyway) and also the fruit in the recipe (fruit in the bread already!).

I think it is lovely like this.

Toast or lightly fry in a little butter and use as the base for a simple pudding by spooning over stewed fruit/compote/winter fruit salad, serve with cream or ice cream or fromage blanc. This is a good way to make those expensive fruits in alcohol go a bit further too.

It makes lovely eggy bread too

I love it as it is with a dessert wine.
