Freezer spreadsheet

I saw this mentioned in another thread and wondered what on earth it looked like! Is it useful or unnecessary? I like lists and hacks to stay organised and I hadn't come across this one before so I'm curious

I don't have a spreadsheet but I have a drywipe pen blutacked to my freezer door and I write a list of everything that's in there on the door then rub it off when I take something out. It helps that my freezer is in a cupboard, might not look so good if it's on show in your kitchen.
