What to serve with game pie?

We're having game pie on New Year's Day. We'll already have had 'Christmas' style trimmings on Christmas Eve so fancy something different - but not chips, which was my dad's suggestion! But what?

Game pie is ready made so there's not a lot of faff about prep. We all like most veg.

Any ideas welcome! Thanks.

Is it a hot game pie or a cold cutting one ( pork pie style with hot water crust pastry)?

And what mixture of game is in it?

If it's hot I'd do buttery mash, either made with potato or turnip and swede, and cauliflower cheese. Yum . 😛

It'll be hot - it's venison & wild boar.

Red cabbage cooked with apples, cider and cloves. Or Savoy cabbage with caraway seeds. Duchesses potatoes. Roasted root veg? Braised Celery? Buttered spinach?

Roast celeriac, carrots and potatoes. Rowan jelly. Rocket.

Oooh weeds that all sounds delicious. Think I'll go with the Savoy cabbage & caraway, roasted root veg & maybe a whole grain mustard mash. Thank you everyone.
