Try the library Custy, at least if you realise you cant boil an egg without burning it you can take the book back and order a take away.

Hope that is helpful advice.

it is something i will certainly consider WB. just frightened of covering cook book in stuff

nigel slater's real fast food turned my dh from a 'yellow meal' man into a reasonably confident cook.

luckylady74 · 18/02/2007 22:17

but still need the book to help me!

Why don't you buy a copy of Good Food magazine or Delicious or Fresh or one of those. They have seasonal easy dishes and it is not a huge outlay and it doesn't matter if you get it dirty. alternatively I have found some good cookbooks in charity shops

Custy I have a Nigel Slater paperback one you are welcome to. It came free with some mag and we have Nigel's other books which I use all the time so it is a bit redundant in our house.

Sort of collection of ideas for simple meals, bit camp, but imaginative.

CAT me if you want it and I will send.

Custard - wasn't it you that completely changed the way your family eat a year back or so? Hows it going? - are you managing to stick with it and just looking for new inspiration? The problem I find with cook books is I would only cook maybe 4/5 recipes form each one. I now use Delia Online and BBC food site and it's quite good fun typing in whats in the larder/fridge and being giving ideas on what to do with it.

yes twas me a couple of years ago flung out the chip pan and bought fancy pasta. used pesto for the first time and olive oil became a staple.

and i am bored. so bored and ready meals are so easy.

this along with - dh and i are desperatley trying to get along better. his suggestion that we do cooking classes. i think sensibly we can't afford that but we could do something at home.

so maybe if instead of it being a chore - it became an adventure. the whole thing would be different.

i knwo i can type stuff into internet, but thought i would ask you lot for a cook book going spare.

am quite willing to go buy - its just - if you don't ask you dont get

thanks xx

I also lack inspiration and seem to buy the same stuff everyweek and get stuck in a rut. I really enjoy reading the 'whats for tea' threads to get a few ideas - maybe we should have a 'ready steady cook' type thread where you say a few weird items you may have hanging around your cupboard and someone says - yep potatoes, sausages and a tin of beans? - why don't you do sausage, beans and mash

speedymama · 19/02/2007 11:34

Custardo

I use the recipes from this book again and again and again. Buy it from Amazon market place for a 1p plus & P&P and you will not regret it. It is one of the best cook books in my collection and the pages are now sticking together because I have used it so many times.

StrangeTown · 19/02/2007 22:23

No probs Custy - will email tomorrow from work.
