ok as an example today

breakfast - one bowl of rice crispies and whole milk
i slice of toast and butter
i cup of juice (diluting lemon)

930 - another bowl of rice crispies with milk
another cup of juice

1100 - 2 apples and 2 clementines (altho dd2 didnt really eat apples, more nibbled and discarded)

lunch - 1/2 a haddock in breadcrumbs and about 6 baby potatoes each

1pm - 3 oat cookies and a cup of juice

2pm - strawberry yoghurt

is this normal? it seems to be in this house

for tea at 6pm they will be having pork stir fry with noodles and a drink

at supper they have half a banana with milk to drink

dd1 is like a rake (shes 4)

dd2 is chubby but shes only 2

i just would like some comparisons? ta

Mine haven't been too bad today. Breakfast was:

Sugar puffs & wholemeal toast for ds [He doesn't like eggs]
boiled egg & wholemeal toast for dd

fruit mid morning

Lunch

ds had potato & leek soup [he doesn't like beans]
dd had beans & more wholemeal toast.

2pm: bag of yoghurt covered strawberries for dd & raisins for ds. Most days they eat the same food, but ds hates eggs & beans & they were the two things dd & I were having today

I have no idea what we're having for dinner.

fireflyfairy2 · 16/02/2007 14:49

Sorry, my ds is 2 & dd is 5.

Ds is usually the one eating me out of house & home!!!

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2007 14:49

Complete opposite here. DD(5) and ds(20 both eat like sparrows (although dd is improving). However they are both happy and healthy and growing. DD is thin but tall for here age, and ds is very tall and big for his age (is over 15kg and is age 3 clothes despite having just turned 2). SO I think as long as they are healthy and eating healthy food as apposed to junk I really wouldn't worry. I think even at this age it is important not to make food an issue of any kind (either trying to force them to eat or withholding/ restricting it).

USAUKMum · 16/02/2007 14:51

Only the one bowl of cereal with toast for breakfast -- norm here is 3 bowls

do yours run around like mad things? Seem to have tons of energy? Figure mine eat so much to fuel their endless jumping/running/dancing/climbing etc. We are 5.11 & 2.6 here.

BuffysMum · 16/02/2007 14:51

If you have children with high metabolisms it does just seem like constant food provision - they are so expensive! We often end up with 5/6 courses at tea time.........when dd2 doesn't want to eat much we know she's ill!

USAUKMum · 16/02/2007 14:52

That is they are 5.11 (DD) & 2.5 (DS)

nailpolish · 16/02/2007 14:53

they run around like maniacs til about 2pm, dd2 goes to her bed for a 2hr nap and dd1 usually does quiet play at this time - coluring in or puzzles and a bit of telly - so the afternoons are quiet

then after teatime they go into top gear again til bath

i honestly cannot believe the amount of food they eat...

I have one who grazes all day (dried breakfast are nibbled all day) and the other who would quite happily never eat. I know which I find more stressful.

It all sounds pretty healthy stuff you are giving them so I wouldn't worry.

nailpolish · 16/02/2007 15:05

i dotn really worry as such, drosoph, and i know that having a child who seems to be eating nothing must be more wrrying (obv)

its just driving me nuts! the constant "what can we eat now mummy?" and i run out of things to offer them. i run out of ideas

my dd is nearly 6 and eats about the same, maybe a bit more than your dd, particularly when she gets home from school and up until bedtime.

She has a smallish breakfast though. Today she ate a bowl (about 4 or 5 tablespoons) of Ready Brek with honey and a drink of water.

dd is also as thin as rake, talks and sings and fidgets etc, etc. non-stop.

BuffysMum · 16/02/2007 15:27

most commonly heard phrase in our house "I'm a little bit hungry....."

nailpolish · 16/02/2007 15:38

mercy - YES! to the fidgeting

I ahve a very skinny daughter who nver stops eating.

10AM ramekin dish of yogurt with bueberries and raspberries.

12AM PLate full of fruity cous cous and some garlic bread

12.30 friut salad - raspeberries, strawberries , pineapple and mango

2pm am starving again mummy so bowl of corn chowder soup with a piece of bread followed by a handful of grapes.

Don't know about girls....but living with boys is like living with locusts. They eat EVERYTHING, including stuff you have hidden from them.........
