Help I need a really good showstopper-- (sorry) dessert for Christmas lunch. No-one really likes Xmas pudding, even my homemade one Sad.
Not keen on trifle either.
We are having a large joint of beef on the bone for the main course.
For six adults, no kids coming.
Any suggestions , links or recipes gratefully received. TIA.

Mmm... I'd go with rozzlepop's lemon meringue - deeLISH! You could offer ice cream, lemon sorbet and cream with it. Those who are full can just have the sorbet. And lemon is a refreshing taste after a roast meal.

DS wants us to make a Christmas pudding cake - a chocolate cake with a bit of a dome on top, covered in Maltesers, dripping of white chocolate and holly twig to look like a Christmas pud.

Nigellas spruced up vanilla cake is pretty good! Is basically a heavy sponge in a tree shaped cake tin, looks the business. Serve with raspberries/red fruits round the bottom. Low fuss.

Croquembouche? Certainly a showstopper and easier than it looks.
