This may seem a strange request !

Hi,
This may seem a strange request !
But I'm looking for a large tin or aluminium can,
as near to these sizes...

Dia: 3.6 inches (92mm) (82mm to 92mm)
Length: 5.9 inches (150mm) (or longer)

So I was thinking of using a can that contains some food etc,
so chunks of beef, beans, tomatoes, etc, etc.

Can anyone suggest something that you have, that you know fits these sizes.

Obviously It needs to be something that I can get locally in the UK.

NB: I posted this elsewhere in error.

Many thanks

A can of tuna is 86mm.
Lash several together to get the length?

Many thanks senua:
Tuna tins are rather low/short aren't they ?
If possible I would prefer one tin.

Aren't tins of pineapple rings quite wide? Probably best heading to a large supermarket, maybe in the world foods aisle you'd find something.

I have a tin of grapefruit (essential wairose) which is 85mm by 110mm. , which is the biggest tin i have at the moment.
The tins you get orange in for marmalade is bigger and probably nearer what you want, but they tend to be ribbed

I'm intrigued, before I pop off to my cupboard and start measuring, what do you need it for?

Lucked · 26/11/2016 15:38

I don't have any in the cupboard but you get big cans of hotdogs

Muddlingthroughtoo · 26/11/2016 15:38

Maybe tinned hotdog sausages?

Muddlingthroughtoo · 26/11/2016 15:39

Crossed post! Great minds....

originalmavis · 26/11/2016 15:42

Sounds like catering sized tins.
Wat'cha making?

chatnanny · 26/11/2016 15:46

Try nesbitts catering who also sell to non trade. If that doesn't work then trawl Amazon with exact sizes in cm and inches as different search words vary results hugely. I had huge difficulty getting tin for small top tier of wedding cake but ended up with a pork pie tin! Try thinking outside the box and also USA Amazon which has some things we don't and can often send for remarkably little.

The tins of peach halves from LIDL

I don't understand the difference between diameter and length. Or do you mean height?

ifeelfine · 27/11/2016 13:41

Heratnumber7: To clarify...

Can diameter: 3.6 inches (92mm) (82mm to 92mm)
(eg: Like the distance across a plate, its width)

Can height: 5.9 inches (150mm) (or higher)

Many thanks.

Thank you. Wasn't sure I'd dia = diagonal or diameter.

Why does it need to be so specific (5.9"/92cm)?

Wouldn't a 6" or 100cm tin do? What are you making?

pimmsy · 27/11/2016 21:23

Maybe a dolma tin ?
