DS wants a pirate cake for his birthday so I am thinking treasure chest (not boat thanks!) with buttercream and lots of sweets. All of he, I and DH hate fondant.

It would be really nice if the guests could eat all the treasure too, so I'm wondering if you can get fully edible gold chocolate coins.

You could take the foil off white chocolate coins and use edible gold spray to colour them. Dr oetker does a gold spray you can buy in Tesco.
