Thinking about my Christmas list!

What's your most used cookbook? I'm a by of a geek and have counted how many recipes I've made out of my 'favourites'. I'd have said my favourite is Rick stein far eastern odyssey (8) but the count reveals ts actually The third Hairy Dieters book (21) and the Jamie family classics book is doing well at 18 considering that I've had Rick Stein for a few years and Jamie for a couple of months....

So what books do you actually use the most?

Annie Bell's 'In my kitchen' is one that I keep going back to.
'Just like mother used to make' by Tom Norrington-Davies.
'Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table' by Mai Pham.
'Cook in boots' by Ravinder Bhopal.

I have shelves and shelves of cook books. I often read them when I have no intention of cooking, I just enjoy them. Nigellas How to Eat is perfect for this.
The book I return to over and over again though is an ancient paperback book which is barely more than a pamphlet from BeRo the flour producers. It has wonderful Christmas cake, simnel cake and basics like pastry and iced biscuits.
My Granny has one which is at least 50 years old and I have one from the 70s and a more recent edition.
You can still order them and IIRC they are about £3 including postage - bargain!

Mastering the art of French cooking.
Everything is delicious.

If we are judging by the tattiest looking book on the shelf then it is a toss-up between Leith's Vegetarian Bible and an old Good Housekeeping Vegetarian Cooking book.
I highly rate Dan Lepard's Short & Sweet mentioned by a PP - my pastry skills are definitely improving.
My most used single recipe though is in the Magic Bread Dough recipe in HF-W Veg Every Day book - great for pizza, flatbreads, bread sticks and rolls.

One I particularly like is quite old now. It is by Arabella Boxer I think it was called Garden cookbook? Cannot remember but had loads of veg dishes (not vegetarian)
