It is 4 yr old ds birthday party tomorrow. Have a new baby so no time! Have bought a cheap frosted iced cake. He wants a dinosaur/minion/octonaut cake with homemade dinosaurs. Have some blocks of coloured icing and small icing pens! Any quick ideas for a time limited novice! He is v excited about his cake!!!!

Do you have any dinosaur cutters? Or just make Dino shapes with a knife on rolled-out icing. Maybe try making a 3D one or ideally get him to make one to go on the cake?
And swipe all relevant toys and stick round and on cake. Sprinkles and sweets in an Octonauts treasure chest, Barnacles and Peso holding icing dinosaurs, etc.

Put plastic dinosaurs on!

I've done a minion cake before - plain victoria sponges, smarties and all the plastic minion figures (washed) that they'd collected from mcdonalds over the years.

Or, have you got time to get out to a toy shop and buy a set of the Playmobil Dinosaurs? Set up scene on cake, son delighted, gets to keep set after the party.
