I've never put cream of tartar in a cake

its a delia one

can I just forget it

what does cream of tartar do in a cake then?

its a big 10" cake tbh .. so don't want to risk it going wrong

thanks muminfife

recipe calls for plain flour, 3 tsps cream of tartar and 1.5 tsp of bicarb of soda

could I replace with SR flour plus 1 tsp baking powder?
