I'm hosting a family meal on Saturday for my Grandma's birthday and need a crowd pleasing menu for all the family - young children to 79 year olds! My mind has gone completely blank so all help appreciated.

Boring and safe but a roast or bangers and mash?

Italian theme - lasagne, Garlic bread, salad

Saw this on tv today: cauliflower soup, roast chicken, birthday cake.

Mine likes 'traditional' food

So not rice or pasta based really

A beef casserole with creamy mash potatoes? Can make casserole in large dish in oven and slow cook, easyto keep warm and serve, suits all ages.
Add some side vegetable dishes

Three deserts, but mainly because my grandma loves sweet things. A hot pie like cherry with custard or cream, cold pie type like treacle tart/ apple tart/ cheesecake or similar, and maybe just a bowl of simple fruit salad of melon and berries. Covers all ages and preferences.

Oh yes and one desert needs to be cake or something candles can stand in ( cake/ cheesecake/ fruit tartlets)

Do you know what the main course was at her wedding?

Serving that would be a nice touch.
