have just sat at the dinner table with ds 3.5 and dd 16mths. for dinner we had 'mild chicken curry' only i had the same and it was actually quite hot!! dd is currently scraping the last of the rice from her plate - she does however look a little flushed .

Yes, ds (2.7) likes very strange things including Thai green curry. He especially likes sour things, and likes to suck a lemon, screw his eyes up, then suck it again. Yesterday he guzzled down broccoli and stilton soup , I only had half of mine because the stilton taste was too strong.

DS loves olives, capers, seriously strong cheese, curry etc. DD was the same as a toddler too but can be a bit more fussy now at age 7.

Oh, and he loves olive bread, I haven't tried him on olives alone yet.

McDreamy · 07/02/2007 17:02

Yes both my children will eat curry, chilli, not olives though!!

Raggydoll · 07/02/2007 17:03

"chilli scouse" big lips ?? now that it what i'd call a strange food.

Its fab when they don't have any preconceived ideas about food and just.... try it to see if they like it.

Unlike DD(5) who looks at it, pronounces it disgusting and refuses to taste it. DS (2) will try anything and adores Indian Takeaway as well as my own curry which can be challenging.

My DD1 used to love chicken curry and on the odd day these days she'll eat some but she doesn't polish it off like a spag bol.

My 13 month old however has eaten chicken biriyanis, dopiazas, veggie chillis, basically everything and anything, except steamed carrots, they get chucked over her shoulder every time!

Both mine try olives every time they see them and then spit them straight back out!

not yet found anything my ds (2y5m) doesn't like. polishes off olives, pickled beetroot, sprouts.

one thing he's not dying about however is potatoes! perhaps cos' so bland...

Lullabyloo · 07/02/2007 20:50

ds 2.5 is a real savoury chap...not keen on anything sweet.
Adores olives, raw garlic, spring onion...will chew on the ginger while we push him in the trolley round sainsburys ..loves lemons & great foot juice too..

pesme · 07/02/2007 20:51

dd (3) is fabulously picky but loves my veggie chilli with brown rice. to the point where she even gets excited shopping for the vegetables.
