Hi

Trying to get into liver again as I love it. Got 2 packs liver, onions, streaky bacon, mushrooms & lots of other bits but not sure what to make.

Would love to make something in my slow cooker.

Anyone able to help??????????

Throw it all in with gravy.
Or fry it and add gravy. Serve with mash.
Yummm

don't know about slow cookers, but how about just frying all of that up in a pan and serving it with mash and gravy?!!

i like liver too..vastly under-rated imo!

x posts nbg! great minds....

What, just all in the slow cooker with gravy??? That sounds too easy If I've got that right, would bisto gravy be ok then? Also, do I need to fry the stuff first or can I just whack it in? (presuming still need to dip liver in flour?)

Thanks

Done it all fried before so could do that - yum BUT, trying to get into my slow cooker and don't want to be cooking tonight, just fancy having something that smells nice during day and can just dish out

So, anyone able to tell me if Bisto Gravy in slow cooker with the rest of it is ok? Oh, and confirm about whether or not i need to fry first.

Thanks

I usually brown the meat off first before I put it in the slow cooker. I would also use stock rather than gravy and then add some gravy granules when its ready to be served if its too runny.

Just be careful as if you use gravy granules and bacon together it could be very salty.

Update........

Chucked in liver, onions, streaky bacon & mushrooms - nothing fried, no dipping in flour (ran out of time after making dinner lady's banana cake - yum!). Added ¾ pint of beef stock (1 bovril stock cube and hot water) and some red wine.

Added some flour to it later just to thicken a little.

Was on for probably 4 hours on high. Had with mash and was yum! I guess would have tasted better if fried liver and onions but to be honest, I need to be able to chuck stuff in and make it very easy otherwise I wouldn't bother with a slow cooker.

Next time I'll put less fluid in though!

Anyway, thanks everyone!
