New thread for October Ottolenghi always popular and then any supermarket recipe magazine. Going to try really hard this month!!

We've done two of the Ottolenghi recipes recently:

Chicken with hazelnuts and saffron I really enjoyed this; the rose water clearly made DH feel like he was eating chicken sprinkled with pot pourris. Yotam says that the recipe will transport you to Marrakech; DH seemed to think he'd been transported to an elderly aunt's downstairs toilet in the 1980s. (disclaimer: this is a man who views couscous with suspicion, so maybe this reaction was to be expected)

Turkey meatballs with sweet corn and red pepper sauce This one was a family meal, though the kids all passed on the sauce as it contained - gasp, horror - chilli. The meatballs were universally well received, which is just as well as the recipe made enough for some meatballs to go into the freezer. DH and I thought the sauce was very lovely too.

Don't think I've ever used a recipe by Ottolenghi but I did make the fondue in a pumpkin for Halloween from the Tesco magazine. Quite nice even though I swapped mozzarella for cambozola as I'm the only one that likes blue cheese. But my pumpkin collapsed on itself and it really won't serve 6 as it claims unless you count looking at the food as a portion!

Now I have cooked the chicken recipe from the Ottolenghi link. It is very nice indeed.

After spending years dismissing Ottolenghi recipes for being too fiddly I have to admit there's something to them ...
