Gruffalo birthday party

We’re having a Gruffalo party for my little one as he’s obsessed with it at the moment. He’ll be turning 2. We’ll be having 6 children and 10 adults.

I was thinking of this for food:

  • Roasted fox = Ham and cheese pizza squares
  • Owl ice cream = Pasta salad
  • Scrambled snake = No idea on this, please HELP

Any other ideas are welcome.

For activities I’m planning pass the parcel. What else do 2 year old have the attention span to play, lol?

The cake will probably be an Owl cake as that’s his favourite character from the movie.

Any other ideas to make it even more fun?

Scrambled snake might be better as pasta salad - especially if you use penne.

Owl ice cream, how about actual ice cream, with flakes of chocolate and coconut in it to look like feathers

There are loads of gruffalo napkins, plates etc on line.
For that age group I always find that they prefer jumping around with balloons to organised games.

Not sure how suitable for a party but for DDs I sometimes do a Gruffalo dinner:

Scrambled snake (spaghetti with pesto) with roasted fox (roasted sweet potato)

And for pud gruffalo crumble (apple crumble) and owl ice cream (actual ice cream with chocolate flakes).

I think the pasta salad should be scrambled snake.

I did this a few weeks ago for my little boy's birthday. Have a look on Pinterest there are loads of ideas!
I found lots of my ideas were sweet so I bulked it out with actual food eh sandwiches and vegetable sticks.
I did
Roasted fox - cocktail sausages
Scrambled snake - jelly with jelly snakes poked through
Owl ice cream - slices of arctic roll decorated with chocolate buttons and writing icing
Poisonous warts - green grapes
Orange eyes - cheesy football crisps
Purple prickle juice - blackcurrant cordial
Have fun!

Tell young kids they are getting ice cream and giving them pasta won't end well

They won't eat much anyway - I'd instead get some brown felt and cut out a Gruffalo and some green warts and they can stick the wart on the Gruffalo. Hilarity...
