Is it safe to cook half frozen chicken?

I got a pack of chicken thighs out from the freezer last night to defrost in the fridge. However, 20 odd hours later they are still partially frozen. I was planning to pan fry them first then sticking them in the oven with a sauce (maybe for an hour and half or so).

I've always had it in my head that you shouldn't cook half frozen chicken but DH says I'm too fussy and to cook it as planned?!

Help!

Hope you didn't cook them from frozen! I generally put chicken in tap water to make sure it's not frozen before cooking.

Yes

It's fine as long as it's piping hot and juices run clear.

Have this problem all the time - never organised enough to take it out the freezer in time to defrost properly. I stick it in the microwave on low (not defrost - takes too long) for about 10 mins until defrosted and then cook it. No one has been poisoned yet!

I do it all the time. But I like to live dangerously.

Floggingmolly · 15/10/2016 22:48

Yes, it just takes longer to cook. There's nothing inherently dangerous in it.

MyWineTime · 15/10/2016 22:57

Yes it's absolutely fine to cook chicken thighs from part frozen.
