Runner beans that have gone over...

We've been given a bag full of home grown runner beans but they are too tough and big for boiling the whole lot. I understand that should be shelled and just the beans eaten. Do I use them like a kidney bean? Because they are fresh am guessing these don't need to be soaked?
Any good ideas on a recipe for them that isn't throwing them in our next chilli?
