I can cook sausages, I can cook Yorkshire puddings, but cannot put them in the same pan to make toad in the hole.

I brown the sausages, use Delia's yorkshires recipe, put the sausages in and oven pan, heat it in a hot oven, pour the batter over and cook until done.

But they never seem to work properly.

Help me!

Nigella's is great I use hers.

If you can't get the batter in the tin with it in the oven, light a gas ring and put the sausage pan on it while you pour the batter - keeps it all hot. Oh, and lard, not oil.

Im wanting to make my kids toad in the hole but wanting to do individual ones. Does anyone know if i can use them metal takeaway containers to do it and does it turn out the same x

Danni use a muffin tin and cut the sausages into smaller pieces or use the chipolata ones.

I'm not sure foil will heat up well. But you could give it a try!

I use Nigella's recipe from her Kitchen book. It always comes out beautifully puffed up and tastes delicious. (I don't bother faffing about making little meatballs out of the sausages, though.)

32 messages and not a single Archers reference! Toad in the hole featured prominently in the recent emotional abuse storyline. I haven't had it for years and years but this has put me in the mood to give it a go at the weekend.

Gravy or not?

I did it with the foil trays and worked a treat. Kids loved having their own toad in the hole. I have also been told i make the best yorkshires in the while wide world!! I have also been ordered to buy more little trays and to make it more often....and thts frm the other half aswell not just the kids!!!

I make mine in a cup cake baking tin and call them Sausage Pops. Add a teaspoon of mustard to the batter. Delish. Serve with peas & onion gravy. Fave meal in our house Smile
