I'm finding so many variations googling... could someone share their fail-safe recipes please?

• A biscuit that holds its shape when baked.
  
• Idiot-proof coloured icing recipe to decorate.
  

DCs want to make biscuits that look like Pokeballs and simple Pokemon (I think Staryu might be doable for beginners). Thanks!

I use the biscuiteers recipe - been using it for about eight years now and it's never failed me. Really quick dough, easy to work with and everyone seems to like eating them. I bought the book for inspiration; lots of beautiful biscuits even if my talents don't stretch that far
