How can I cook grated courgette?

I am making a pasta dish that requires grated courgette to be dropped into the boiling pasta at the last minute, before being poured through a sieve so you are left with green speckled penne.

Slight issue, my sieve has some rips in it (God knows how) and the courgette will just fall out.

How can I cook the grated courgette separately so I can combine in together? Could I microwave it, or fry it?

Fry it. In butter. With some salt and pepper. It'll be lovely

A quick sauté in some olive oil should be nice!

Maybe you could line the sieve with muslin(not sure it would work well but thats what I'd try)

Or use some of whatever oil/butter goes into the recipe to very quickly saute the courgette - actually I think that might be nicer than just dropping in water esp if maybe a bit of garlic with it.
