Is there anything I can bake with these ingredients?

DD wants to bake a cake, but I am lacking in ingredients and skill.

I have the following ingredients:

SR flour
Eggs
Butter
Brown sugar
Icing sugar
Vanilla essence
Cocoa powder

Does anyone have any recipes that I could use? I don't have any normal white sugar, would standard fairy cakes work with brown sugar?

Chocolate cake- just substitute some flour for some cocoa.

I always use brown sugar in chocolate cake.

Chocolate cake.

I'd make cup cakes. Either plain or chocolate and ice them.

You have everything you need for cake!

Standard cake mix is
for each egg:
2 ounces SR flour
2 ounce butter
2 ounces sugar (brown is FINE)

2 eggs worth will do you 12 fairy cakes (if you have cases and a bun tin)

Brown sugar works... esp in chocolate cake. Do the weigh eggs method) weigh 2 -3 eggs in shell then use equal quantities of sugar, butter & flour + cocoa powder ( add a tsp of baking powder if you have it).

Beat sugar & butter until fluffy. Add an egg at a time - keep beating. Add flour cocoa mix. Bake in a lined tin at 170deg C for about 25 min / until the cake bounces back when you touch the top lightly.

It will work fine with brown sugar
weigh 2 eggs -
then use the same weight of sugar, butter and self raising flour ( you can swap 2 dessert spoons flour for cocoa powder if you like )
add 1 teaspoon baking powder and vanilla essence and a tablespoon of milk.
Mix well. Spoon into cases, cook for 12-15 minutes at 170º fan

All very easy.

Approx equal volumes of butter, flour eggs and sugar makes cake (with or without cocoa powder, or halve the mix, put cocoa powder in half and vanilla in half, and put dollops of the different colours into a cake tin to get marble cake - draw a knife through a couple of times to increase the marble effect)

Approx twice as much icing sugar as butter, plus a few drops of milk, makes icing (again you can add cocoa powder or vanilla or half and half)
