Ale & Treacle Bread for Breadmaker recipe?

We were out for dinner last night, and had, quite possibly, the nicest bread I've ever tasted.

I told DH I would try to recreate this in the breadmaker, but I've searched online & can't find a recipe.

Does anyone have a recipe I could use

Don't have a recipe - that's quite a specific request!

But if I was going to have a crack at making it I'd take my breadmaker's regular bread recipe and adapt it. Sub in ale for half of the liquid, make the rest up with water. Treacle is pretty strong so you won't need much, and it'll make the bread go dark. Maybe a tbsp in the mix? Put in your regular flour and salt (I'd probably use some type of wholewheaty flour given that this is probably going to be a pretty rustic loaf), mix, bake. The sugars in the treacle will make the loaf brown faster when it bakes, so select a light crust or else bake it in the oven a little lower than usual.

Lovely, I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Thanks very much
