It's not as bad as being given yards of elastic I know, but dMIL has turned up with this enormous number of garlic bulbs and I have no where to store the thing and want rid of it.

Most of my italian style recipes use garlic but not by the bulb, so has anyone any suggestions?
If I roast them can I freeze them afterwards?

TIA

dont know about that last bit (the freezing) but you can certainly roast them whole and have with meat and other veg.... there is a recipe for chicken with 50 cloves of garlic (google it?) which might use up a few!

Can't you just stick a nail in the wall and hang it up somewhere? Or chop a few very finely and put them ina jar with olive oil - it will last for ages if you keep it in the fridge

or... send it round here... i love garlic and we get through loads of the stuff....

Mediterranean Roast Veg

Just roast lots of cloves of garlic with things like mushrooms, peppers, courgette, onions and halloumi cheese (that have been drizzled with olive oil and herbs)

You can roast them whole with a load of veg, they're lovely.

Carmenere · 28/01/2007 21:08

Just hang it up and use it as you need it. It will last just fine as long as it is in a cool and dry area.

Buy some olive oil (Lidl/Aldi are good for this) and add whole peeled cloves to make garlic olive oil.

Hmm, think I shall roast half and do a big bottle of garlic-infused oil.
Can't hang it up because we have just had a very modern sleek-lined type kitchen fitted and a) dh will have a fit if I stick a nail in anywhere and b) it would look plain daft!
My mum used to hang one in the shed, but I can't persuade dh into that

Garlic Soup? Had it a few times, abroad I think. I think they roast the bulbs first so the flavour is mild. Delicious!
